Employee Motivation Training

Employee motivation training is important to every company. This should be a regular part of any training program. In order to perform their jobs effectively employees must be motivated.

What does a good employee motivation training program consist of? There are several key parts to an effective program. First it must address the needs of the employees. For example engineers do not really need sales training. Facilities management does not require marketing skills. Be sure the training is within the scope of what the employee is expected to accomplish. Then set high expectations of the employees and give them the tools, training and motivation to meet or exceed these expectations.

Next, be sure you are treating everyone fairly and with respect. This is very important. People will not respond to your or your requests if they feel you do not respect them. All rewards should be based on performance and nothing else. Reward a job well done. This is the best motivation. If employees see that the reward system is based only on job performance instead of other more "political" factors they will be motivated to do well. Adjust job description or reevaluate jobs based on the employees in those jobs. Use your employees talents wisely. Everyone brings a different skill set and talents to a company. Be sure that you have the right people in the right jobs. A great way to really motivate someone is to move them from a job they are not really good at to one that they can excel in!

So what about the exact training. Precisely where do I find good quality employee motivation training programs? There are many ways to find good trainers. The first way is to see who is local. Ask around and get references. A good local individual or firm will be able to accommodate you more easily than someone from out of town. You also need to decide if you are going to be sending your employees to a training facility, or to a rented space, or will the training be done in house? You can also check the Internet to see who is available. Many times trainers who have web sites also have a sample of their seminars for you to view. This can be helpful. Be sure that the program is going to address the areas of importance to you. See if the trainer can custom design something for your company. Many will. There is nothing more motivating to employees than having a seminar tailored to fit their specific needs.
